Im Erik.

I work in hospitality, spend a lot of time crafting drinks, and genuinely enjoy learning how things work—and then sharing that knowledge in a way that feels useful, not intimidating.

The Mixologist’s Journal grew out of years behind the bar and at the table—tasting, building, adjusting, and paying attention. I’m drawn to process as much as outcome: how a cocktail comes together, why a wine behaves the way it does, and what small decisions make something worth repeating.

I’m currently studying to become a sommelier, and this journal is part of that process. Consider it an open notebook—learn with me. Some posts are polished conclusions, others are explorations in progress, but everything here is grounded in curiosity and real-world experience.

Cocktails come first, followed closely by wine, food, and the tools that support all of it. You’ll find a focus on balance, structure, and intention—whether that’s in a stirred drink, a tasting framework, or a dish meant to sit comfortably next to the glass.

Some links on this site are affiliate links, but the approach stays the same: if it’s here, it’s something I use, trust, or would recommend without being asked.

This journal is meant to be practical, thoughtful, and ongoing. No shouting. No chasing trends. Just well-made drinks, good food, and a clearer way to think about what’s in your glass.
